REFUGEE
We were talking after work about our clients misfortunes
And all the rules we had to constantly enforce
Quickly conversation switched to holiday destinations
But then the grumbling came straight back, yeah the economy of course
And as per usual we declared all the things we're not to blame for
And like on cue there was a rap against the window pane
As we opened up we found a little lady pleading
To the welfare bureau can we show her the way
She lost her way
She was a refugee
She asked please rescue me and my son
She was a refugee
But she was like you and me, but alone, far from home
With her baby son, on the run
It was late on friday night there would be no welfare open
And as we tried to figure out what language that she spoke
She explained in broken english she got dumped just past the border
With her baby in her arms, tired, dirty, broke
There was no way she would go back from whence she came from
In her homeland there waged war as brutal as they come
She would rather fight alone in this foreign country
Than lose to hateful war her dignity and son
Dignity and son
So the next time you talk all those souls into a cliché
Just remember they are flawed just like you and me
With no fault of their own they got dealt a cruel fortune
And now they need a little help, help to be free,
Like you and me, want to be free
Want to be free
